Blue Banksia Buds

North Head in Manly is home to nearly half of all remaining Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub, a critically endangered ecological community. A recent fire has blackened the banksias, part of their natural cycle of fire and regeneration. Against a midsummer sunset, the burnt forms take on a stark and unexpected beauty, a landscape transformed, waiting to regenerate. The painting can be viewed at the Melbourne Affordable Art Fair at the Groundspace Gallery.
